Personal property
reporting forms are mailed out in the middle of July each year. They are due back in our office by October
1 st. Failure to return this form will cause the taxpayer
to need a supplemental tax ticket to be created in our office. This
makes your taxes higher by 6%.
HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION
FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND PERMANENTLY AND TOTALLY DISABLED
Qualified homeowners can receive an exemption of $20,000 of assessed
value on their property if it is used and occupied by the owner exclusively
for residential purposes.
In order to qualify for the exemption, the applicant must be 65
years of age or older prior to July 1 ST of the year applying or
must be certified as being permanently and totally disabled. The
applicant also has to have been or will be a resident of the State
of West Virginia for two consecutive calendar years prior to filing
a claim for the exemption and must provide proof of age and residency.
New applications for the exemption will be accepted by this office
from July 1 st through December 1 st. You must apply in person in
our office. No exemptions are done by mail.
DOG TAGS
Dog tags are required by
state law. They are sold in this office for $3.00 per tag. New tags
go on sale every July 1 st and are good through the next June 30
th. They must be purchased annually. They can be ordered by mail
or picked up in our office. If ordering by mail, we need the following
information: Your name and mailing address. Is the dog male, female
or spade female. Breed of the dog, color of the hair, and is the
hair long or short. Send a check for $3.00 per tag payable to “Wyoming
County Assessor.”

viewing in our office. Copies are available for sale.
